Jack Cofano: What was the first bike you owned?

Kendall Johnson: It was an Ironhead Sportster way back when it wasn’t cool to ride a Harley. You got a bad reputation.

JC: While we’re on the subject of H-D, what’s your favorite?

Kendall: Without question the FXR’s. I’ve had over 30 throughout the years, and in my opinion, they were the best Harleys ever built.

JC: Who were your influences in your early years?

Kendall: I was always interested in Arlen Ness’ radical designs, and also a local legend and friend named Bird Wilson.

JC: Style, function, or performance, what’s most important?

Kendall: Definitely performance. If you can’t ride them, what good are they?

JC: A lot of customs are starting to look very similar. What are you tired of looking at?

Kendall: Choppers, I prefer the long low streamline designs.

JC: What makes your bikes stand out?

Kendall: Performance and dependability. You can take these bikes to the drag strip, run them around town or use them for long distance rides.

JC: Do you get a warranty with your designs?

Kendall: Sure, but I hardly ever get any back.

JC: You’re going to love this one. Do you own an OCC t-shirt?

Kendall: I’ve never even seen one of their TV episodes.

Jack Cofano: Where do you hope to find yourself in 10 years?

Kendall Johnson: Right here in this shop building engines and bikes just like I do now. I’m not looking to be a rock star.
