Install the seat.

I installed the J-Brake rear
passenger pegs. As you
can see in the upper left
corner of this photo, I also
installed a battery tender
harness. This will allow
the owner to keep the battery up at all times
without having to remove the seat. Another detail
often overlooked.

One of the things that should be done during mockup is
installing the exhaust system/pipes.

Installing the Samson pipes is a very simple process. Unwrap the pipes you’ve selected and install the Paughco exhaust flanges and retaining rings.

Set them in place and snug up the head bolts. Where the back mounting
holes end up with the pipes held in place is where the mount will have to be.
Alignment is important here. You don’t want the pipes crooked, high or low,
spaced wider at one end or have them tipped in or out. They should line up
and run parallel.
Making the brackets to mount the pipes should have been done during pre-assembly so fitment of
the pipes and brackets should be a piece of cake.

I made this piece using the “rem” flat stock again and drilled three holes. I mounted one end to the back brake tab and drilled a hole in the frame for the front part of the mount. I tapped the frame hole for 5/16-24” (fine thread) and inserted a heli-coil here so I could tighten the bolts without fear of stripping out the hole. I sent this piece off to the chrome shop with the few other pieces I had to make.
