Once you have the right shims figured out, you can remove the plate and install the shims and flange nuts.

Now you can install the starter into place. Use the proper bolts in the holes to the transmission case and use lock washers. Put nuts on the back of the transmission plate to hold the starter into place for now. Then install the oil tank and set the battery into place.
Prior to installing the primary plate into place permanently, you will want to wire the bike and install the oil fittings.
The Dakota Digital speedometer (#3015) we are using has a little electronic box that runs things. It also has a full compliment with turn signal flash indicators, neutral indicator, oil indicator, tachometer, speedometer and trip meter. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before they incorporate a complete weather system so you’ll know what you’re riding into.
Remember, this bike is going to be ridden and must be legal.

The Dakota Digital Speedometer has many features built in, including a tach but the
extra wires will add to the already interesting wiring situation.

The Thunder-Heart wiring harness kit contains all of the circuit breakers and starter
relay stuff you’ll need to wire the bike all in one nice little package, making the wiring
a much easier task.

As I previously mentioned, you’ll have to make several brackets with the aluminum 1-1/2” angle that you purchased from the scrap yard.

Cut a couple of pieces of the aluminum angle: one for the Dakota
Digital box and the other for the Thunder-Heart box. Once they are
cut, drilled and polished they should look something like this.

I mounted one behind the Baker
transmission and the other under
the Baker transmission in the interest
of keeping things somewhat hidden.
