One thing I might mention here is to be sure to make the seat so that you can easily remove it.
Remember, the battery and oil tank fill hole are under the seat and you will need to get at both. Dont bolt it
so that the rear tire has to be removed. This bike is going to be a ridden bike, not just a showpiece. Use
the LePera bracket and bolt it from the top like Harley does.

Install the Gardner-Westcott (#09807) rubber iso-mounts in the
tank. These mounts have a 5/16-18 stud on one end and a
female 5/16 on the other.
The bike will look much better with this type of recessed mount,
have less vibration and the mounts will last longer.
92
Again its back to the scrap stock to
make the gas tank brackets. Same
procedure as all of the other
brackets: measure, cut, shape and
drill.
93
The tank comes from FatKatz with this piece of 1/4 thick rubber for
mounting. You will need to trim it to fit the tank. It does fit very snug
on the painted frame. Since you wont want to mess up your paint,
youll need to use baby shampoo or a similar soap to lubricate the
rubber, which will make it much easier to slide onto the frame after
everything is painted.
Mount the flat stock to the tank with a couple of .030 shims between
the brackets and the iso-mounts. This will put the brackets about .030 farther down on the frame for
welding purposes, which will pull the tank tight when its finally installed and the shims have been
removed. We dont want it loose.

Next, set your tank on the frame with the 1/4 rubber cushion installed. Lay the frame
upside down with the brackets bolted to the tank and the tank stuck onto the frame.
Align the rear brackets perpendicular to the frame and tack them with your mig. I
chose to use round stock for the front bracket only because I had some. You can use
the 1/4 flat stock just as easily. Measure from the flat stock mounted to the
iso-mounts to the frame. Cut a piece of the 1/4x 1 stock to fit and grind it to the correct angle of the frame.
Tack it into place. An old piece cut off of a bend handlebar also works well here.
