Clean your parts prior to any assembly.

Remove the primary plate, install the 
spacer and bolt the plate back into 
position.

Lay a straight edge along the plate and align it with the side 
of the frame as best you can. Close is good enough at this 
time. Feed the chain onto the transmission sprocket. Set the 
rear axle in about the middle of the axle slot and determine 
about how long your chain needs to be. This will show you 
about where the rear fender needs to sit to start. You can 
adjust the final spacing later.

It’s also important to check the clearance between the primary 
plate and the oil tank.
