Rub Vaseline on the new replacement Harley seal (#12050) and
sprocket/pulley spacer (#33334-85). This sprocket spacer is
about .080 longer than the pulley spacer and a little smaller in
diameter.
50
Now carefully slide the spacer into the seal.

Clean the shaft and area. Be sure the quad seal (#12045) is placed back on the
5th gear sticking through the bearing. Normally, it will tend to stick to the pulley
spacer when you pull it out. If your transmission is new, just clean the seal and
put it back on. If the transmission is old, get a new seal.
52
Here is another trick I learned. Put a thin film of blue Loctite
on the seal before installing it. It will seal any irregularities
in the seal, thus preventing a leak.
53
Carefully slide the seal and spacer onto the shaft.
