Kevin
Alsop of Big Bear Choppers phoned in a series of component specifications
to Michael Read, S&S engineer, for a newly revamped S&S Super
Sidewinder engine exclusive and proprietary to BBC. The result is a quieter,
smoother running engine.
By using a square configuration of 4.00 inches of stroke with 4.00 inches
of bore and utilizing proprietary compression ratios and cam timing as
well as reciprocating weights, this internally reformed engine runs incredibly
smooth while meeting all the strict EPA requirements. Additionally, proprietary
cam timing and compression ratio helps this engine to run cooler and the
type of rockers help cut down running noise. This engine produces around
110 lbs torque with 95 HP, so power is not sacrificed.
The Super Sidewinder engine is marketed by BBC with the name of S&S-BBC
100 SMOOTH.
