Grandeur Cycle of East Jonesville, North Carolina is offering an automatic clutch that eliminates the need for having three legs when you come to a stop with a jockey shift bike (one to apply the back brake, one to disengage the clutch and another to hold the bike up). With this product you can leave the bike in gear and when the rpms drop below 1200, the clutch is automatically disengaged. When you are ready to leave the light, you just apply the throttle and take off. It’s that easy and the product delivers great holeshots if you gas it up hard. In fact, it was developed for drag racing, taking fiddling with the clutch out of the equation in hard starts. Once you get going, you use the clutch lever as normal to change gears but the clutch is much easier to pull in. By replacing the clutch pressure plate with a new unit which works by applying centrifugal pressure to the clutch pack, engine speed does the work that is normally done by springs. You can see more photos and read about it at www.grandeurcycle.com. It is even priced reasonably at $695 for BDL 3” open primaries. If you don’t have a jockey shift, there are still benefits to the automatic clutch, making stopping and starting much easier, eliminating the need to hold in the clutch while stopping or letting it out progressively when taking off. Beginners will benefit from this.
