Great news out of Milwaukee this year: six new models and a host of changes to all of the the others for 2006. The surefire hits should be the stunning white 35th anniversary Super Glide, produced in a limited edition run of 3,500 and 2006 VRSCSE2 Screamin' Eagle V-Rodthe CVO Fat Boy with a 200mm rear tire. The CVO Ultra, Street Bob, Street Glide (not shown) and Heritage are also welcome additions to the line up. The final bike, shown in John Wyckoff’s article on page 12 of this issue, is a drag-racing-only V-Rod (called the Destroyer) putting out 175 horsepower. Enough were ordered at the dealer show in July this year that an entire class should get started nationally. Check out Harley-Davidson’s web site at www.harley-davidson.com for details on the new models. They have a clearand comprehensive site. The ’06 brochures are already out at your localdealerships as well.

2006 FXSTS/I Springer SoftailThe other big news is the addition of 200mm tires to the FX softail models: the FXST Softail Standard, the FXSTS Springer Softail and the FXSTB Night Train. These bikes look absolutely great in person and work well, too. Check out our riding impression of the 2006 Night Train on page 84. All three of our test riders felt the new tire looked great without giving the bikes any evil handling characteristics. The Dyna family received the most changes with a newly designed sweet-shifting six-speed transmission, slightly wider tire in back and improved primary.
